Fighting demons.

Fighting Demons is a campaign to raise the awareness of Models for Heroes throughout the wargaming community of the work they do.  The campaign also aims to encourage the community to step up and enlist their unstarted miniatures to do battle against demons that haunt our Armed Forces and Emergency Services. personnel.

Every hobbyist acquires figures, that they have never gotten around to make or paint.   A pile of misjudged purchases, last minute bargains, bought with every intention of using.  A `shelf of shame`- some call it.

Models for Heroes are asking wargamers, model makers, figure painters to give their dust dwellers purpose and enlist them to do good.   Turn that shelf of shame into a Hoard of help, your accumulation into a donation, send your compilation into combat and deploy your stash to the struggle.

Model making and figure painting, are hobbies that require focus and concentration, Allowing busy minds to rest while making something to be proud of. Models for Heroes provides support to our emergency service and armed forces personnel by providing hobby resources.

“..A real life saver, when things look bleak i retreat to my model room and loose myself in my models.  Because you have to focus on what you are doing it takes the mind of other issues.”

I was off work for 3 months.  I wouldn’t speak to anyone, I didn’t want to answer the door or talk on the phone … during this time I started building models and this really helped me get back to normality.

“Fighting Demons” is an expression signifying a person struggling with an internal battle.  Often due to traumatic experience, anxiety or depression.  These mental health challenges can be exhausting and relentless, day or night leading to difficulty coping with stress, relationships and work.

Repetative traumatic events seen by our Emergency Service and Armed Forces personnel can lead to significant mental health challenges.  Without support, coping with stress, relationships and work can become intolerable. 62% of emergency service workers experience a mental health problem and 27% had considered taking their own lives.

We need your monsters, cavalry, dragons, infantry, trolls, robots, knights and romans. Zombies, dwarves, cavemen, tanks, marines, pirates and giants.

To do battle fighting demons.  Miniatures are made to be used.  So put them to use and give them to enhance the lives of our bravest men and women in the UK.
